Very attractive E Boat Badge (schnellboot kriegsabzeichen) in the first pattern. Instituted in 1941 and replaced in 1943 with the 2nd Type. This badge is in zinc with most of the gold and silver wash remaining. Although unmarked, this badge is attributed to the maker Steinhauer & Luck. The characteristics of these badges are the thin, vertical needle pin, crimped hinge type, bronze C hook and the small circle indent visible just above and to the right of the hook.
