8255 20th July 1944 WOUND BADGE sold 20th July 1944 WOUND BADGE This is a very rare find. Super detailed 20th July Wound Badge. The wreath and helmet are in an aged silver colour – appearing black and the ground area and inscription have traces of gold wash. This suggests the black grade wound badge. The rear has a beautifully executed pin, hook and hinge arrangement and carries the maker mark 2 for Juncker of Berlin and measures 37mm x 44mm. Around 12 black awards were made to officers including Jodl and Keitel injured during the bomb plot at the Wolf’s Lair. Some 100 badges of all types were made at the time. I suspect this to be a later jeweller made copy of the highest quality.  SOLD
